Our group was going to Shah Alam
Convention Center for a mission. All of the members joined as the
volunteer for 'Teddy Bear Hospital Programme' at the Malaysian Islamic Children
Fair (MICF). Our session was from 2pm to 5pm.
We departed from University of
Malaya around 11 a.m. and reached Shah Alam in noon. We started to survey
the surrounding upon arrival. After having our lunch, we went to the
booth and start our preparation.
Our group was in-charge for Station 3, photo booth and goodie bags.
Darren and
I packed goodie bags which would be given to the children
later on. I was in-charge for the photo
booth. I helped little kids to wear on
lab coats and stethoscope. After their
parents captured pictures, I lent a helping hand to kids to take off the coat and
put back the coats to the hangers to avoid people accidentally stepped on
it.
It was a great experience. I was quite enjoying this events as I almost forget all the stress and having fun with the kids. This project was meaningful as it is not only let the kids having fun but also learning new things. Healthy lifestyle and correct ways to disposal the waste should be introduced to kids since they are small. This would develop good habits in the next generation.
Perhaps pets can be used to replace soft toys so that the kids can experience real situation. But this is just suggestion as it is harder to keep things in order and clean if pets are used.
