Unlike the other groups, our group will carry out our social engagement through Malaysia Islamic Children Fair(MICF) which will be held in Shah Alam Convention Centre. This children fair will be conducted on 27,28 and 29th November 2015. The event name is THE TEDDY BEAR HOSPITAL PROGRAM. This program is held by IMAM Children and Teenagers Super Team (IMACATS) together with UM Cares. The program is open to kids 3-12 years old. There are 3 stations and 1 display area. The entrance fees are FREE!! The kids will bring their own favorite teddy bears or any soft toys to this event. One of the aims of this event is to let the kids learn about health in a fun way.
However, our group will only be volunteer for the sessions 6 with topic " Oh No!! My teddy has dengue!!" The Sessions 6 will be carry on from 2 to 5pm on 28th November 2015(Saturday). In addition, our group will be in-charged of the registration counter, station 3 and also the display area.
After the discussion, 2 of us will be handling the registration counter. For Station 3, 3 activities will be conducted. Firstly is the "Waste Disposal", we will prepare the recycle bins and teach the children to collect rubbish according to the recycle bins. Secondly is the "Identify AEDES home", we had prepared the pictures of dirty places to allow the children to point out the breeding places of AEDES. Lastly is the "Teddy Eats Healthy Food", we will prepare healthy and unhealthy food stickers and let the children to pick up the food(stickers) to feed on their teddies. For the display area, we will display the poster of healthy lifestyle, the models of AEDES and also life cycle of AEDES for the children to get knows more about AEDES and dengue.
The event is around the corner. We are getting more nervous and excited too. We hope that everything will go smooth as expected and the children can really get learn more about dengue.
