Beberapa fakta mengenai nyamuk Aedes yang perlu kita diambil tahu:

Hindari Aedes. Perangi Denggi.

I remember on the 29th of October, which we group of  2nd year of quantity surveying students went to the Tabika Kemas Block C Kerinchi located in Kuala Lumpur to share with the kids about aedes and dengue. It start in the morning, which all the students went to the kindergarten, some by van and cars, but me and Ikmal went by motorcycle.

When we arrive, we start to set up the banner, make space for activity in the kindergarten. Kids, then were divided into groups, and pair of students will take a group of kids. The activities which conclude Have You Heard of Dengue Fever sharing session, Waste Disposals handling, I am Detective Game & Field Trip, Play Doctor McStuffin and Get to Know Mr Aedes, were conducted according to schedule. Between activities there was break time, which the kids enjoyed performance of the clown and then these kids got balloon which quite made the kids going a little bit aggressive. There are several problems through the day, but we managed to handle it nicely. At the end, we give appreciation to society which involve, and also for the kids. All of it when smoothly, although there was drag of time.

I manage to learn a lot, about aedes and dengue, to actually communicate with the kids which not usually happen, and to conduct such activity to be nicely held. Not only able to learn but also this will remain to be a moment I cannot forget. Hopely through these community get the benefits and in the future, aedes and dengue will decreases.

The practical day of pre-school combat dengue module on 20 October 2015 has been carried out smoothly and went according as planned. Truthfully, I have learned many things and gained valuable experiences. Among them are:

Sharpen skills to interact with children. As one of the facilitators, I have gained skill in communicating with children to help them deliver information and knowledge more effectively. I have also learned how to avoid the children from being bored or uncomfortable and how to handle unexpected tantrum of the children.

Time management. As we have planned and prepare a schedule, we need to make sure that all the activities can be carried out smoothly without any urge.

However, I think there are some improvement that can be made in the future to make this program more effective. Some of them are:

More practical activities. In order to deliver information more effectively, there should be more activities which requires direct communication with each child so that they will not feel left out, thus paying more attention. Activities that only involved talking should be reduced and conduct more practical activity.

Better place to conduct activities. Dividing into small groups can help the facilitators focus more on each children but these group will requires more space so that they will not give disturbance to each other. So a bigger space will surely help the children to focus on their respective facilitators.

Overall, I think this program should be continued and improved as I believe it capable in decreasing the case of dengue and arise awareness among the community.

Aktiviti- aktiviti seperti "Have you heard dengue before", "Play Detective Game", "Have you sick before" dan lain-lain adalah aktiviti yang dijalankan di dalam kelas manakala aktiviti "Trip to Playground" adalah aktiviti luar kelas.

On 28th November 2015 our group was arranged to be as volunteers of Teddy Bear Hospital Project held at Shah Alam Convention Center under the Malaysian Islamic Children Affair. Our team had been assigned to conduct the 2pm-5pm session for registration, station 3, photobooth, and display area. We were conducting some interesting activities that related to dengue fever such as Eat Healthy Food, The Breeding Place of Aedes Mosquito, and How to manage Trashes.  Besides, we also show the model of Aedes mosquito to the kids so that they can have the close view of the mosquito.

The 3 hours session with the kids was very enjoyable and meaningful moment for us. Instead of giving advices and teach the kids, we also had learn new things from them.We had learn a lot of things such as how to communicate with kids so that they can get close to us, how to educate them in a fun way so that they can enjoy the lesson, and many more.

There are a few moment captured by our team member during the session.

Finally, Alhamdulillah we had done our best in handling the task given and we really do enjoy the educating and playing session with the kids.  I could say that it's a wrap that we had finished our task for Social Engagement subject successfully.
The highly anticipated outing to the Block C's kindergarten at Pantai Dalam eventually materialized on the 29th of  October 2015, albeit the setback caused by the haziness and cloudy air that struck Petaling Jaya severely to an extent that the kindergarten had to be shut down for a week. Nevertheless, the corps of twenty-one volunteers strong aided by a handful of 1M4U's humanitarian headed to the Block C's kindergarten on the sunlit Thursday morning. It was smooth sailing..... until we got to meet the pre-school kids.

Upon reaching there, the kids were prorated equivalently to eight distinct group and then, a cluster of two or three volunteer was assigned to facilitate them throughout the 3-hours course program. The program was on the docket with the Pre-School Dengue Module which comprehensively includes Have You Heard of Dengue Fever sharing session, Waste Disposals handling, I am Detective Game & Field Trip, Play Doctor McStuffin as well as Get to Know Mr Aedes brainstorming session. Each and every single activities were conducted successfully without any unsought incident although it is a matter of fact that controlling the active and enthusiastic kids is not a walk in a park whatsoever.

As the morning elapsed by, the program reached to a pleasant conclusion. Feeling a bit worn out yet much delight and content seeing the effort that all the volunteers put to reduce the cases of dreadful Dengue fever which is on hike in recent years extensively by raising the awareness of Dengue fever among the kids as well as the community as a whole. It was a good job well done!

Today is the day for our group to do our social engagement!

We will be doing it at the Malaysia Islamic Children Fair (MICF) instead of the planned kindergarten to unforeseeable circumstances. The fair is held at Shah Alam Convention Centre, and our group was in charged of 2pm to 5pm session. During that session, we will in charge of 3 station, that is Registration by Li Wei and Dura, Station 3 by Amalina, Syahril, Atikah and lastly is display by Cindy, Hanis and me.

On that day, we arrived around 12pm and inspect the area so that we can estimate how we are going to carry out our job. Then we have our lunch nearby before we start our work at 2pm. Registration counter will was to register the kids, gave them cards and also to ask the kids to choose a teddy bear before proceeding to the first station

For station 3, their job is to execute the activities in the module; Waste disposal as well as the 2 additional activities such as "Eat Healthy Food" and "Breeding Places of Mosquitoes"
And lastly for Dispay we will have kids to wear the doctor attire to take photo with a large teddy bears and also distribute balloons and free gifts.

All in all, we had a great time here and learnt a lot too on how to handle children with age ranging from 2 to 12 years old. I also learnt that is it important to contribute back to the society that gave us so much.
